This collection of photos is from a series I took on a romantic weekend getaway with my wife to San Juan Island in October 2007. It was our first time on the island. The weather, even this late in the season, was wonderful. Lots of sunshine, a little rain, but always a little windy. We took the ferry to the island and back again to Seattle.
The beauty and majesty of the island is only paralleled by the kindness and warmth of the people who live there. The island has a peaceful strength about it that I tried to capture in the photos of this collection.
It was not hard to find interesting subjects for the photos. So many parts of the island presented such wonders before me – it was hard to select only a few special photos to present to you here.
The journey back on the ferry was scary. The wind was so bad it rocked the boat violently. We thought it would split in half, but we made it back safely.
I hope to journey back to the island again to capture more of it’s beauty to remember forever.
