We take highway B158 from Salzburg to Hallstatt, on our way to Hallstatt from Innsbruck. Along this highway is the beautiful Wolfgangsee, which stretches out 10.5 km from the northwest to the southwest.
The market town that borders it’s shore as well as the lake itself are named after St. Wolfgang of Regensburg, who according to legend, built the first church here in the late 10th century. On our way nearby is the Sommerrodelbahn, a large luge track that we are going to try out. It seems that we have a tradition of doing the luges wherever we go in Europe. And just like those we visited in Switzerland, Sommerrodelbahn is a wild thrill ride in the hot summer sun.
