Haus der Musik

Haus der Musik

May 24, 2010 – Vienna, Austria

Vienna’s House of Music is a one-of-a-kind place where you can really experience music and learn about the physics of sound.  Downstairs is an exhibit all about the world-famous Vienna Philharmonic.  Upstairs is where all the fun begins.

Audio visual exhibits showcase each of the famous hometown boys – Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Strauss, and Mahler.  Unique interactive touch-screen computers and headphones allow you to explore the physics of sound.  You can twist, dissect, and bend sounds to make your own musical language, merging your voice with a duck quack or a city’s traffic roar.

Wander through the ‘sonosphere’ and marvel at the amazing acoustics.

Pick up a virtual baton to conduct the Vienna Philharmonic.  When you screw up on the timing of your baton swings, the musicians put their instruments down and ridicule you.

This was one of our most favorite museums in Vienna, and we felt it was a great value.
