We end our journey to Austria in Hallstatt. We’re cruising the beautiful Hallstatt lake on board the MS Hallstatt sailing between Obertraun and Hallstatt. Lovable Hallstatt is a tiny town wedged between a mountain and a swan-filled lake. The Hills are truly alive with the music of Hallstatt.
We are surrounded by the loveliness that has turned everyone from Emperor Franz Josef to Julie Andrews into Austria lovers. This is Sound of Music country. Idyllic and majestic, but not rugged, it’s a gentle land of lakes, forested mountains, and storybook villages. Like a picture postcard from Austria. Hallstatt is one of Eurpoe’s oldest cities, going back centuries before Christ.
