May 23, 2010 – Vienna, Austria
On our second day in Vienna, after Liechtenstein, we took some trams to KunstHaus Wien, a museum designed by the Viennese artist, Hundertwasser, a modern artist and environmentalist.
While trying to fund KunstHaus, we got lost around Raedetskyplatz and stumbled onto a beautiful government building with a lot to photograph.
After taking some pictures and video, we finally found the KunstHaus. The museum features all of Hundertwasser’s art, modelbuilding, and life photos. An incredible exhibition that really allows you to enter his mind and learn how he sees reality. Huge scale models of his vision for a “green” city are also on display there. The architecture of the building showcases Hundertwassers dream of buildings that are biological and free of straight lines.
Later we walked a short distance to Hundertwasser Haus, a block of apartments right in the city that is pure Hundertwasser. In fact the whole neighborhood including the local pub is designed with Hundertwasser’s art in mind.
